Ellie Update: 1 Week Old

Proud Daddy
Well, we just passed Ellie's due date! On one hand, it is hard to believe that it has already been a week. On the other hand, each day has been so long ... Strange thing, parenthood.

Ellie is such a good baby. I hate to complain about anything, because she really is pretty easy. The most she sleeps is about 3 hours at a time and the least is closer to one. The hardest thing for us has been trying to turn this into something of a schedule. We found a pretty cool app on our iPad called "Baby Geek" (appropriate, right?) that allows us to track things like sleeping, feeding and diapers. Yes, we're nerds, but we think it'll help! At least we have a few more weeks before reality hits and off to work we both go.
On my way home!
We took Ellie to the pediatrician for the first time this week. As of yesterday, she regained 5 1/2 of the 13 oz she had lost since birth. So she is now 7lbs 5 1/2 oz. Healthy girl! And Dr. Blackmon officially confirmed that she is, in fact, "perfect"! Just wanted to be sure to throw that out there. A doctor did confirm it. :)

Rollin and I have been so blessed by our friends and family. Several have brought us food, sent flowers and spoken such sweet words of congratulations and encouragement. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and we feel like we have surrounded ourselves with some quality people. Ellie is so lucky!

Next week is the start of school, and it feels really weird not having been there or met my students yet. It is my prayer to leave the classroom in the hands of my sub and amazing team and that God prepares me for returning in a few weeks. I can't imagine working all day and having this little one, but it's going to happen soon. Any advice from working moms is much appreciated!

See ya next week!
