Ellie Update: 38 Weeks
Ellie's profile! She doesn't fit in the screen anymore! |
My mom (whose birthday is today) and Rollin came for the ultrasound and we were all shocked at how much she already weighs. The nurse said she'd guess Ellie is about 20 inches long already, but they don't know that for sure. She also has a big head full of hair! It was really neat that you could actually see the hair on the screen. The nurse also said that I had a lot of fluid, which could add to how quickly she's growing. They're going to test me for gestational diabetes again next week ... hooray! :/
After our ultrasound, Dr. Myers asked how much she weighed and literally laughed out loud when we told him. "Little linebacker" is what he called her. When he came back in the room he just looked at me and laughed again, patted me on the knee and said, "It's gonna be fine." Gotta love the honesty!
Basically, our options at this point are to give Ellie one more week. Next Thursday he'll see if I've dilated any and if so we're looking at inducing next Friday. If not, Monday is the latest we'll wait (especially if she gets any bigger!). So it looks like she'll be evicted either next Friday or Monday, which is one week earlier than expected! I am 100% okay with that!
It's good to know that all my complaining lately hasn't been about nothing. And we are super excited that we're going to get to meet our big baby sooner than we thought! Time to get the hospital bags ready ... the countdown has begun!
Baby Gaga:
The final details are being rounded off before your rocket-baby's big launch into the world. For one, your adorable poop-factory's meconium stockpile is growing (are you ready for that historical first tarry black poo?) as their baby fat stores continue to increase. Most importantly, your wee genius' rapidly developing super-brain is abuzz with new brain cells that'll be growing for years to come.
Woohoo! Whether you give birth tomorrow (yes!) or next week (aw), your fantastic baby is pretty much 100% ready to face the world outside of your womb. And by "ready", we mean weak, helpless and unable to do anything other than cry, pee, poop, and eat.http://pregnancy.baby-gaga.com/
