Radiation: Week 1

One week of radiation down, three to go!  Everything has gone pretty smoothly so far.  Rollin has gone in for 4 treatments and the only side effects he has experienced so far are some slight nausea and fatigue.  Each treatment is short, about 10 minutes or less, and Rollin says he can't really feel it at the time.  It's just the side effects that crop up later in the day.  We've been told that the side effects can intensify as treatment continues, but there is no need for that worry at this point.

Since this has been my Spring Break, Rollin has been able to rest.   (And thank God for the break, it came at the divinely perfect time!)  I do go back to work next week, so we're asking for prayers that Rollin still find time to rest when he is home with Ellie beans. We can't thank our "cloud of witnesses" enough.  There is no way we (and by "we," I mainly mean "me") would have the peace that we do if we weren't surrounded by prayer.

On another note ... Rollin and I are planning to start a 30 day weight-loss challenge that we are "affectionately" calling the District 13 Diet.  We both have some "baby weight" to lose, and are trying to hold each other accountable.  The idea is to exercise for at least an hour every day for 30 days and to revamp our diet.  One new thing we're adding is ... protein shakes!  We just ordered them this week, so I hope they are good.  They come highly recommended from Diana Warner, who is spear-heading this weight loss plan.  I'll be adding how much weight we lose to the end of my weekly posts.  Here's to looking fabulous this summer!  :)

  1. Good luck to Rollin! My step mother just finished radiation not long ago. Her side effects didn't worsen, so hopefully Rollin's won't either.

Are you going to write your daily schedules down on your arm every morning when you wake up, too? ;) Hehehehe.

I've been trying to do the diet revamp thing, too. If you want ideas for healthy snack options and general tips, I highly recommend checking out undressedskeleton.tumblr.com

She has a lot of easy, tasty ideas....i use a lot of them!
